One Dollar Peep Show: the debut album ‘Showreel’ out Monday 28 August on the Weird City Electric Company label.
One Dollar Peep Show Weird City Electric Company presents the One Dollar Peep Show album launch party at The Fez, Reading on Thursday 31 August.
Born out of the ashes of the Reading-based cult band Riser, One Dollar Peep Show have finally emerged, blinking, from their 18 month self incarceration at Wired Studios. In their hands they have a long-awaited album entitled “Showreel”.
Based some of the time in Reading, and the rest scattered across the South of England, One Dollar Peep Show is more of a collective than a band; liberated from the constraints of doing the ‘typical band thing’, 1DPS have been free to explore new ways of writing and recording, with Weird City producer Chris Britton. The result is a heady mix of sweet vocal melodies, virtuoso wah-wah guitars and pulsing beats, reminiscent of an electro Siouxie and the Banshees, which has already generated some enthusiastic reviews from their occasional live shows.
1DPS make their first live appearance since 2005 at a special album launch party at The Fez in Reading on 31 August, which will also feature Mr Fogg live, plus DJ sets from Groovediggerz, Does It Offend You, Yeah? & Pye.
Groovediggerz
After being together only a year, the boys from Groovediggerz have whipped the breaks scene into a creamy froth with their original and innovative productions, with some of the genre’s biggest names clamouring to remix their high-octane party breaks tunes. They run a regular radio slot on nuskoolbreaks.co.uk and are working on their debut album.
Mr Fogg
Still less than a year into his career, Mr Fogg has taken his unique blend of indie-synth-pop around the country twice, and has had airplay on Radio 1, BBC 6Music and XFM. This summer he has been working on new material with producer Martin Rushent, and has released his second single ‘Seciov’ on Worst Case Scenario Records. Mr Fogg also opens the Carling Stage on Friday at Reading Festival.
Pye
A louche, lanky ambassador for the Reading Massive, Pye has been playing quality electro house/breaks records to the happy people of Reading for some years, both solo and as the third member of the CPR Collective. He has never been known to miss a beat during his DJ adventures, even when 1DPS throw things at him!
Does It Offend You, Yeah?
There will also be a guest DJ set from the about to be massive electro/indie/punksters DIOYY?.
