The One Dollar Peep Show party bus pulled into Oxford last week, to scenes of hysterical fandom reminiscent of The Fab Four's first tour of the U.S. Once safely hidden away from the panty-wetting crowds of adoring teenage admirers our heroes
performed a thrilling set of dirt-pop favourites for a packed-out crowd at the Music Market. Set opener "Under Your Skin" had the audience in hushed awe at drummer Scott Lawrence's brutal, muscular sticksmanship, providing a solid shaft on which guitarist "Big" Nigel firth eagerly skewered his hot, loose snatches of primitivist guitar noise.
Vocalists Minna Harris and Ashley White straddled this melange of laptop-rock, harmonising a hook-laden chorus that is guaranteed to blast any other song out from between one's ears, even that one that is on the radio at the moment and sounds EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME AS 'BRIMFUL OF ASHA' YOU SAD TWATS. But I digress.
The 'Show ploughed through the rest of their set with aplomb, veering from the brooding melancholy of 'Sleeping Sickness' to the wide-eyed euphoria of 'Take Me Home'. They could sure take me home any night of the week, baby!
